Global employment prospects 'improving'
04 February 2010
Return to index
The number of vacancies for professionals and managers around the world is rising, according to a new report.
The human resources consultancy Antal has published its Global Snapshot report, which surveyed more than 60 organizations in 30 countries, revealing that job prospects are improving for these labor market members.
Specifically, the study discovered that current hiring has risen by three per cent since the third quarter of 2009, while those planning to recruit in the next three months have increased by seven per cent to 55 per cent of respondents.
Across the world, the sectors with the highest levels of recruitment are pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, engineering, ICT and banking.
Tony Goodwin, chief executive of Antal, claimed that organizations are once again thinking about the impending "war on talent".
He said: "Although a few countries are still seeing a decline in the employment market, the global picture has definitely improved once again."
Last month, the World Economic Forum published its Global Risks 2010 Report, which suggested that unemployment problems are the biggest threat to an international economic recovery.
